Aubree has her first birthday in a few days. While I’m so excited for this milestone, I’m also so sad that the baby days are coming to an end. I think that’s what makes “mom life” so beautiful, the fleetingness and bittersweet moments. For now let’s focus on the sweet, fun moments while I share what I’m getting for Aubree or putting on her wishlist.

Tip: Keep an Amazon wishlist for each of your children so when you see a great gift idea you can save it, and you are never left wondering what to buy. It also comes in handy when family and friends ask what your little one wants or needs.
While some of this list is kind of girly this first toy is popular with both girls and boys. This Wooden Race Track Car Ramp Racer with 4 Mini Cars is so well made and fun for a wide range of ages. I like that it comes with 4 cars so kids can, ideally, play together.
My nephew Kalvin got a gift like this next toy for his birthday a few weeks ago. This Busy Board with LED Light was a favorite even with the older kids and would be perfect for long car ride. I’m definitely taking one of these on our next planeride.
As an avid reader myself, I make it a huge priority to read to my girls and surround them with a wide variety of children’s books. In the future, I’ll share my favorite children’s books so watch out for that list. For now, here are three books I plan to get for Aubree. Baby Lit makes some phenomenal children’s books that introduce classic literature but on a cute, fun educational level. I love all three of the Bröntie sisters’ books so Wuthering Heights is a must-read for my little girls. Here is the Baby Lit version.
Since Aubree is only turning one I’m definitely getting her some tactile, touch-and-feel books. I just know this mermaid book will be a huge favorit. We have other books like this Under the Sea sensory book. Both Sophie and Aubree love them. I’m excited to add this one to our library.
In my opinion, play food is always a safe gift. I love adding to my girls’ extensive play kitchen. My go-to is wooden play food like these Victostar Magnetic Wooden Cutting Fruits Vegetables. Not only are they perfect for cutting practice they are cute to look at too. Let’s be real, kids’ toys are going to be scattered across the house so they may as well be aesthetically pleasing to look at.
Up next is a very affordable toy that’s also extremely open-ended. Nutty Toys 8pk Pop Tubes Sensory Toys Sophie has a set of these and I want to add to our collection. I love the tactile element of these toys and they make a fun sound when you pull them apart. Whether you are building with them or just using them as a fidget toy, it’s fun for all ages.
By now, we’ve all seen the fancy kids’ couches that be used for all kinds of fun building projects. This MeMoreCool Kids Couch is a more affordable opsion. I love the dark green color and the round pillows that come along with it. As my girls get older I know they would have so much fun building and playing with a couch like this.
Education toys are always a favorit of mine. This mushie Shape Sorting Box is very cute and teaches your little one sorting and shape recognition. Mushie is one of my favorit bands when it comes to baby items. I love their plates and cutlery as well as their baby toys. The quality is always phenomenal. Everything they sell is beautiifuly made and available in a wide range of pleasing colors. I highly recommend their products.
For every major holiday I always buy my girls two things, books and pajamas. Burt’s Bees Pjs are my go to because I tend to have tall babies. Their pajamas are great quality and made with 100% organic cotten which gives me so much peace of mind. I absolutly love all their cute, festive patterns. It’s hard to choose which pair I was to buy next. I always buy my girls matching pajamas because why have two babies if you can’t have them match? I’m joking but still, there’s not much cutter than kids in matching pjs. Here are three cute patterns I’m thinking of getting for Aubree’s birthday.

I am a firm believer that nobody can have to many soft blankets. As we get closer to winte a think Aubree would love a new cozy blanket. She has lots of baby sized blankets but I think she needs a fullsided throw to keep her cozy this fall/winter. I think this Lightweight Soft Knitted Chenille Throw Blanket would be a great gift for anyone.
Last but definitely not least is a gift I actually got Sophie when she was little, but would definitely but for Aubree if we didn’t already have it. Small balance bikes are so much fun for a wide range of ages. Sophie is 3 and still plays with her little bike like this Baby Balance Bike Toys. This brand is high quality and built to last. I would definitely repurchase this bike.
Birthdays as a mom are bittersweet, and a beautiful reminder of how short the years really are.
Aubree Jean, you are the most beautiful part of 2022 and I am so incredibly thankful you are part of our family. Although you were born during a dark time in my life, you are a ligh in our lives and a promise of better days. Your sister and I love you so very much.

I like that you have a variety of gift ideas and price ranges. I’m excited to see your list of must have books for kids. I would love to see videos of your kids interacting with these toys too.
